Brooklyn Ball Factory

My local Japanese cafe Brooklyn Ball Factory makes Matcha Latte and its’ the damn best Matcha Latte I’ve come across, its perfectly sweetened and always made to perfection every time. I ordered matcha latte from other cafes and no one makes it the way they do.

I’ve had the typical cafe muffin but I recently noticed this pancake wrap treat called Dorayaki. Dorayaki is a red-bean pancake which consists of two small pancake-like patties filled with sweet Azuki red bean paste and different flavored fillings.

It’s mildly sweet I would compare the pancake taste to a crape but obviously made differently. The matcha flavored Dorayaki goes great with morning coffee or with matcha latte (my personal favorite).

Have you ever tried Dorayaki?

Vegan Valentine’s Day

Unfortunately my fiancé is working on valentine’s day but he surprised me with a reservation to a local vegan restaurant Modern Love. Every time we drove past it I made subtle hints about wanting to dine there some day. Well I’m happy to say today was the day he made it happen. ❤️

When am I not on my mobile devices 🙄

We don’t really dine out often, as much as we used to compared to when we started dating (mostly because of personal preference) but it was nice to try something new and have a date night while catching up on other things other than our home life.

Thank You Very Matcha

The weather is getting warmer in New York so obviously cold beverages and other cold indulgences are the way to go. It wasn’t until some time ago last year standing in line at my local cafe wanting to disperse from my usual mocha latte my curiosity introduced me to a Matcha Latte, and I’ve been liking it every since.

Matcha is packed with antioxidants, and what does antioxidants do? They help prevent aging, fight against infections and chronic diseases. So why not get this power house packed in any foods/beverages I consume.

Overall Rating 4.9/5

I must admit I think I have a cosmetic crush [admiring a particular cosmetic brand] from the simplistic modern packaging to the luxury quality pigments of  lip sticks and glosses down to the spunky shade names. Alchemy Cosmetics offers a great color range of matte lipsticks, Lets be honest matte lipsticks are all the rage lately but it can be hard to find a matte lipstick that doesn’t dry out my lips, up until now! These lipsticks glide on smooth and don’t dry out my lips.  Personally I love red tone lipsticks for a signature glamour look and knickbocker knightmares has a great deep blue undertone which is more of a deep red. J Train Journeys has a fuchsia-coral infused tone which is suitable for all skintones and great for a spring-summer look and Secrets Of Starr Street is a soft peach shade that I really adore.

As for the Luminescence glosses they have shimmer which at first glance can be intimidating but do not fret! The shimmer is very sheen and is pretty attractive when reflected in lighting. They also have a nice scent to them, not like most glosses that have a strong “chemical smell” and they don’t leave a gooey finish that makes your lips feel like glue or from the wind blowing your hair, nothing is more annoying then thick consistency glosses so the fact that these don’t do that really makes them much more wearable.

Another great thing about Alchemy cosmetics  is the versatility of matte original lip sticks and luminescence glosses. They can be worn either as is or applied over a matte lipstick for a more glossy finish. Each purchase also includes a velour storage bag along with a sincere thank you note as well as a gift of a black tourmaline crystal which known to promote good luck and repel against negative energy.

Overall I am a big fan of the brand and worth adding to my cosmetic collection.

Planting Herbs In Brooklyn

In reguard to Earth Day (yesterday)  I decided it would be perfect timing to plant my herb seeds I purchased at Home Depot two weeks ago. I picked up my favorite herbs I often use for cooking, cilantro is my all time favorite for garnishing, sage, parsley for my mushroom medely recipe and basil well just for future receipes that call for such. The only challenge now is making sure my plants and herbs get the nutrients and much needed sunlight living in an apartment in Brooklyn although I’d like to think it will last summers succulent plants didnt hold up well :-/

The New York Festival Of Light

The first annual New York Festival Of Light was held at DUMBO for a three day installation November 6-8 (5pm-11pm) which is free to the public. NYFOL is a light installation consisting of worldwide technicians. Along with the light show there is also boots set up with vendors and gift shops. Martin and I made it out Saturday night to see the light show however NYPD shut down the installation due to the overwhelming crowded streets. Although we were a little disappointed that we didn’t get to enjoy the light show it was inspiring to see so many people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds look so lively. We walked around before heading back home and Martin took some beautiful photos. Being that this was the first-annual NYFOL we are hopeful to make it next year.

Hachi (Asian Cuisine)

Yesterday Martin and I enjoyed lunch at a local Asian restaurant in Brooklyn. This was our first time dinning there and the atmosphere was so nice and intimate, the decor was beautiful yet had a relaxing feel. The service was great, polite, patient and friendly which made it comfortable and enjoyable. I can say that I was satisfied with drinks and the food, especially the wasabi shrimp! We actually ordered takeout from there today for dinner, This might be my new local spot when I’m craving Asian cuisine. If you live in the Brooklyn area I recommend dinning at this restaurant.
