Homemade Dog Biscuits

Mila is going to be 5 years old on August 31 (next Saturday) so today’s blog post is a recipe for homemade dog biscuits, I can’t take full credit for the recipe since I found it on Pinterest, seriously, is there anything you can’t find on there?!

Ingredients:

1 3/4 cups uncooked Oatmeal

1 large Banana

1/2 cup Peanut Butter (NO xylitol)

Blender

Cookie cutter

*Rolling pin

Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • Blend your oats until they’re powder.
  • In a bowl mix together the banana and peanut butter.
  • Dust 1/2 cup of powdered oats on flat surface you’ll be working on.
  • Pour the rest of the oats into the bowl of peanut butter and banana, and mix until combined. It should not be too sticky if so, blend more oats.
  • Use cookie cutter and place on a non stick cookie sheet.
  • Bake treats for approximately 15 minutes, or until edges start to brown.
  • Let it cool before serving and store extra in a air tight container for 7 days.

*Avoid peanut butter that contains Xylitol as it is poisonous to dogs!!

UNFU*K YOURSELF

I enjoy self help books, motivational speakers, and social platforms that encourage healthy mental wellness and self care, because some days I just ain’t feelin it and that’s ok!

I was recently looking for a good self help book and came across Unfu*k Yourself by Gary John Bishop

A week before ordering the book I wasn’t feeling as productive in my daily life. I felt I had “hit a wall” and I needed some sort of wakeup call, a pep talk to get my shit together and this book was it. I was nose deep in the book and finished reading it in 2 days but found myself re-reading chapter by chapter really letting everything “marinate” in my brain to fully grasp every concept and lesson so that I will able to implement it into my daily life.

This quote really stood out to me and I go back to it often, I find it to be the most accurate grasp of reality.

What is your favorite motivational book or quote?

Youth To The People

My first Youth To The People purchase was the Kale+Green Tea Vitamins cleanser, it’s a gentle cleanser and works pretty well for my sensitive/combination skin. I wish I could splurge and buy everything from the Youth To The People line!

I was in need of a new moisturizer and purchased the Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream and I love it! It’s great for my sensitive skin (no post breakouts) and I find it to be hydrating without making me oily, it seeps into the skin perfectly. Because it’s light weight its great for a nighttime skincare routine because no one likes that heavy feeling after you’ve layered on all your night time products. I also want to mention this moisturizer will be a savior and must have for the winter season!

Btw YTTP is vegan and cruelty free and packs all their products in glass containers which can be repurposed or recycled I’m actually going to use the cleanser bottle as a hand soap dispenser once I’m done using it!

Summer Time Sadness

Well two more months til we say ‘adios’ to summer and “Hello Fall” ❤️ (personally my favorite season) but wrapping up the summer I am lucky to be able to hike the most I’ve ever done in a season let alone, year! Spending as much time with good ol Mother Nature can really do wonders for your mind and soul. And even though I enjoyed every minute of it and sad it’s coming to an end I’m also ready for cozy sweaters, baked goods and pumpkin spice everything!

I’m going to miss sitting by the firepit, with an open mind and soul to late night conversations and laughter, summer 2019 you’ve been good to me.

An Update Thus Far

To those who still read my blog, I truly, truly thank you! I know I am not as active on here as I’d like to be and today I made it a priority to be present.

My last post was basically about feeling down as we all get at some point, For a while I have been feeling a bit “stuck” in a routine and as a result I felt uninspired but I am proud to say, I am getting the wheels turning again and feeling pretty good!

I’ve been making it my personal business to enjoy summer and not take it for granted, enjoying my time spent with good people and doing things I enjoy. I don’t always photograph it, post it or talk about it and some things I do, I guess it comes naturally as I like to keep some things to myself.

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer spending it whichever way you like and if you’re feeling down and/or uninspired try to think out of the norm and try something new whether its taking a new walk route, a new hobby, trying a new food, visiting a new place, a new exercise, welcome it with open arms!

Spreading love and positivity your way ❤️

It’s ok to cry

The past couple of days I’ve had both highs and lows, I am being more productive in my everyday life which is great however I find myself physically exhausted by the evening time and then comes the lows that creep up at night thinking of everything I need to do before tomorrow even begins! Just yesterday I had a cry, a much needed cry, a “I’m overwhelmed” cry and at first I didn’t want to because I thought it will show that I don’t have it all figured out like I thought I did, and that I was somehow weak and to prove to myself I’ve gotten physically and mentally stronger I thought I’d have to suck it up and just let it pass. But I felt this need to cry and need for comfort and I spoke to my better half about it and his reply was “it’s ok, it’s normal and you should let it out, you’ll feel better.” For a second I thought he wasn’t listening to me and probably thought I was talking about flatulence! But there I was crying, and damn it felt good. I think we need to reassure ourselves and those around us that it is ok to cry when we are overwhelmed or overjoyed, it’s an expression that’s meant to be, well, expressed!

We ended the night with pizza and watching our favorite show together and I woke up the next day feeling more at ease. Today I wore some earrings my mother gave to me recently and it helped give me that extra comfort as I happily put them on and kicked today’s ass!

IT’S NORMAL TO CRY! It happens, sometimes we get overwhelmed no matter how big or small a situation may be (it’s not for others to judge the importance of your matter) but it’s totally ok to cry, so if you find yourself in need of it cry it out and get back to being the badass you are!

Happy [belated] Earth Day!

Hello, So I wanted to hop on here real quick to post in honor of yesterdays Earth Day, While majority of the products I use/own are not 100% eco friendly I’m sure we all have products in our home we didn’t even know were green/eco friendly! No matter how big or small we can all do our part in any way we can.

From bamboo chopsticks, glass tupperware, metal straws and recycled glass jars, glass cups, glass dinnerwear and recycling this is some of the conscious ways we are being green 🌎

Happy Earth Day! I would like to know what items in your home have you made green?

Overall Rating 4.8/5

This palette is even prettier in person, trust me! The eyeshadows are all beautiful and fun because of the bright ,vivid colors making this is the palette I would reach for. The price is very affordable for the quality which is why Colourpop quickly gained popularity when the company started up in 2014.

Day in and day out I usually opt for neutral eyeshadows but lately I have been wanting to get creative with my eyeshadow and I found this palette which offers 9 pressed eyeshadows for $12! That’s a great deal! They blend well together and all the colors are opaque which I like.

The only downsides is the glitter fallout from the metallic eyeshadows, I noticed specks of glitter around my eyes and cheeks but it could be because I didn’t use a glitter-adhesive eye primer or it could just be the formula it self, I washed my face and noticed I still had glitter residue and some slight staining of eyeshadow left on my eyelids which was gone the second time I washed my face so that was a bit of a bummer but it didn’t put me off from keeping this $12 palette because I still enjoy the colors.

Has anyone else experienced staining from some of the pigments?

Ohh La La is the sister palette to “Its My Pleasure” this 9 pressed eyeshadow palette has a good selection of pink tones. This is a eyeshadow palette I would use when I want to play up my eyes with some color and I love the color “Sandbar” it’s a fun neon pink shade.

Now on to the things I didn’t like about the palette, Similarly to the It’s My Pleasure Palette I noticed when washing off my eye makeup (I don’t use any eye pads to remove my makeup) there was a slight stain from the eyeshadow which I was able to remove after re-washing my face and used a oil based makeup remover (read more below) I recommend using a primer on your lid to reduce staining but I still have the same issue of some fallout with these eyeshadows, but if you can get passed that (as I can) this is just another pretty affordable palette from Colourpop.

** I also want to throw out there that I read online and watched through a few YouTube videos and noticed that when trying to keep a product vegan/cruelty free certain dyes such as red30-40 is used to form the desired shade which can cause some staining because it’s a direct dye, while most non-vegan formulas use carmine which is crushed insects. Interesting huh?!
