Lush Halloween Edition Pt1

I wanted to make this post just in time for Halloween and this is a part 1 of 2 Halloween Lush series so stay tuned for that one.

Earlier this month Lush released two body scrubs: Magic Crystals which is a pretty purple scrub and Scrub Scrub Scrub which is a deep black body scrub.

Scrub Scrub Scrub has a guava and berries scent that I would best describe as a unisex scent. It does leave a lingering strong scent which can be a hit or miss for some people. While the scent is the least of my worries I was hesitant that the pure black color would stain my skin and surprisingly it didn’t! But be warned it can get a bit messy in the shower no matter how cautious you are.

While the exfoliating grains are similar to the ocean salt body scrub This specific body scrub contains charcoal as one of its main ingredients which is known for its detoxing properties.

As far as color-it’s such a beautiful opaque black and has me wondering if this is one of the reasons Lush decided to release it around Halloween.

Outfit Details:

Romper: Socialite Bell Sleeve Mock Neck Mini Romper (sold out)

Stockings: Target A New Day Sheer Polka Dot Stockings

Boots: Madden Girl Descent Fringe Booties  (brought 2 years ago at Century21 but found them online at Lulus)

I held off doing a fashion post for many reasons, my internal struggle of my personal body image, I dont consider myself a fashionista by any means and I rarely dress up anymore. As someone who currently lives in jogger pants and sneakers this was one outfit I couldn’t wait to take off the hanger. The mock neck cut-out has been in fashion this year and this romper is serving up current fashion and then some! Because of the polyester material I figure the best time to wear this romper would be in the beginning of the fall season when the weather is just right. The fall vibes are in full effect with this all black outfit and I am enamoured with the bell sleeves on this romper, I feel like Morticia Addams in best way possible and paired with my fringe booties pulls the look all together. I feel comfortable, fashionable and easily styled together.

paraben free

none

Overall Rating 4.9/5

I must admit I think I have a cosmetic crush [admiring a particular cosmetic brand] from the simplistic modern packaging to the luxury quality pigments of  lip sticks and glosses down to the spunky shade names. Alchemy Cosmetics offers a great color range of matte lipsticks, Lets be honest matte lipsticks are all the rage lately but it can be hard to find a matte lipstick that doesn’t dry out my lips, up until now! These lipsticks glide on smooth and don’t dry out my lips.  Personally I love red tone lipsticks for a signature glamour look and knickbocker knightmares has a great deep blue undertone which is more of a deep red. J Train Journeys has a fuchsia-coral infused tone which is suitable for all skintones and great for a spring-summer look and Secrets Of Starr Street is a soft peach shade that I really adore.

As for the Luminescence glosses they have shimmer which at first glance can be intimidating but do not fret! The shimmer is very sheen and is pretty attractive when reflected in lighting. They also have a nice scent to them, not like most glosses that have a strong “chemical smell” and they don’t leave a gooey finish that makes your lips feel like glue or from the wind blowing your hair, nothing is more annoying then thick consistency glosses so the fact that these don’t do that really makes them much more wearable.

Another great thing about Alchemy cosmetics  is the versatility of matte original lip sticks and luminescence glosses. They can be worn either as is or applied over a matte lipstick for a more glossy finish. Each purchase also includes a velour storage bag along with a sincere thank you note as well as a gift of a black tourmaline crystal which known to promote good luck and repel against negative energy.

Overall I am a big fan of the brand and worth adding to my cosmetic collection.

                           [Left: “Blushing” /  Right: “Elude“]

Pros

Build-able
Glossy
Long-Lasting
Highly pigmented
Affordable

Cons

Slight feathering
May get on teeth

Overall Rating 4.3/5

I purchased these lip paints about 3 months ago after hearing it was a similar dupe for the too faced melted liquified lipstick, now I haven’t tried it for comparison but the price point was a plus being that Too Faced Melted lip gloss is $21 and L.A Girl Glazed lip paint is $4! I find the website to not be an accurate representation of colors which luckily I was able to find the brand at my local Ricky’s beauty supply store that had testers available. The only cons I had with these products which can easily be fixed is slight feathering, by that I mean the lip gloss tends to shift causing it to go over your natural lip line and seep into your natural skin creases but an easy fix would be to use a lip liner prior to application. Another notable con is the more product you apply more likely it will get on your teeth, so when using it for everyday less is more. The color Elude leaves a awkward color ring around the inner portion of my bottom lip after a couple hours which can be unattractive which is why I use this over a nude lipstick and I never use too much product. I like these lip paints for its color pay off and affordable price but Blushing really takes the cake when it comes to color.

Have you tried the L.A Girl Glazed Lip Paint? If so what shade and what do you think of them overall?
