Overall Rating: 4.8/5

Ohh La La is the sister palette to “Its My Pleasure” this 9 pressed eyeshadow palette has a good selection of pink tones. This is a eyeshadow palette I would use when I want to play up my eyes with some color and I love the color “Sandbar” it’s a fun neon pink shade.

Now on to the things I didn’t like about the palette, Similarly to the It’s My Pleasure Palette I noticed when washing off my eye makeup (I don’t use any eye pads to remove my makeup) there was a slight stain from the eyeshadow which I was able to remove after re-washing my face and used a oil based makeup remover (read more below) I recommend using a primer on your lid to reduce staining but I still have the same issue of some fallout with these eyeshadows, but if you can get passed that (as I can) this is just another pretty affordable palette from Colourpop.

** I also want to throw out there that I read online and watched through a few YouTube videos and noticed that when trying to keep a product vegan/cruelty free certain dyes such as red30-40 is used to form the desired shade which can cause some staining because it’s a direct dye, while most non-vegan formulas use carmine which is crushed insects. Interesting huh?!

I didn’t photograph the product because at the time I thought it was a keeper but the day after I received it in the mail I ended up returning it to Sephora. I truly want to love this foundation for its longevity, buildable coverage and of course SPF30, As a person who loves to take 1,000 #selfies using this foundation made my skin look flawless there was no filter needed. It hid blemishes, evened out the skin-tone and held up quite well on my oily skin. My only despondency with this product is the lack of shade range, St. Mortiz was too tan for my natural skin though it photographed well and Groenland was too light and for $44 each I was not going to dish out $88 to create a in between shade. I think Nars was on to something good with this matte skin tint line however fell short with their lack of color range.

Cons

Overall Rating: 3.5/5

If I reviewed the Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Serum  2 years ago one would assume I was a promoter for the brand because at the time I used it I could only speak highly of the outstanding performance from less blemishes and most importantly clearing up my acne. However it seems over time the packaging and formula got a face lift of its own, this once called gel is now considered a “serum”and the glass jar changed to a glass bottle with a pump dispenser. The Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment consist of AHA complex (alpha hydroxy acids) which helps with cell turnover to revive skin and diminish lines and wrinkles. Most skincare products contain 10% which is less potent and less irritating than AHA complex with higher concentration of 20-30% used by certified cosmetologist, though the higher percent of AHAs can be more effective it can also be very irritating to certain individuals. You will also find The Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment has Algae extract which contain antioxidants. I decided to incorporate the invigorating night serum into my skincare routine but it just isn’t as potent as it once was, I’m 2 weeks and 5 days into using the product and seen minimal results. (Most skincare products takes 3-6 weeks to see results so theres still time) I have oily/sensitive skin, enlarged pores and blemishes around my cheeks and jaw line, a few blemishes have diminished but I still have a good amount of stubborn blemishes that just won’t fade away. My face feels taut soon after I apply the treatment which I’m not complaining! And it delivers a slight glow. I notice the days I skip the treatmeant my face looks dull. The gel texture can be displeasing considering it gets tacky the more I worked it into my skin but I use it at night so I don’t mind wearing it as I’ll be in a deep slumber for 8hrs so the texture of the night treatment might be bothersome for some people. I gave this treatment a fair 3.5 as I think it’s a hit or miss, you either love it or you don’t, it either works for you or it doesn’t. I will continue to use the Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment and if I notice any changes I will post back on this post with an update.

Have you used the Invigorating Night Treatment or any products by Ole Henriksen?

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Cream Kit Review

What Is It?

A hi lighting and contouring kit for the face

Product Claims

“This best-selling, easy-to-use palette contains three highlighting and three contouring shades that work together to help you sculpt, define, and enhance your natural features. Create the illusion of higher cheekbones, a smaller forehead, a softer jawline, or a slimmer nose with these smooth, velvety formulas that blend seamlessly while imparting a subtle, dewy sheen. “

Pros

Color variety
Build able coverage
Blendable

Cons

Price
Drying

Overall Rating 3.5/5

Before I give a detailed review, I purchased the contour kit last month when Macy’s had a online sale bringing down the price from $40 to $25 making it a good bargain buy. I am a fan of the Anastasia Beverly Hills brand from the dip brow pomade to the brow wiz but I just can’t seem to love this product nor work well with it. I read online that this cream contour kit is best for those with dry skin however I have oily skin which might play a role in its performance. [ABH also makes a powdered version of the contour kit]

I find the color selection to be good however the warm coral color is very tricky to work with, I used it around my eyes specifically focusing on my vitiligo and that was a hit and miss. Some days the warm coral and cream combination worked really well under my eyes but sometimes It didn’t (perhaps using too much warm coral or not enough) Now I know some of you might be thinking “well this isn’t specifically a concealer for under eyes” but it’s pigment and texture can work as one.

Overall yes I will say its good for hi-lighting and contouring If you know what you’re doing. If you are a contour newbie this product is tricky. Personally I contour my cheeks with a powder bronzer because I find it easy to use and blend. I will most likely use this either for photographs or for my youtube videos but I don’t see myself making this palette an every day makeup necessity.

note that cream based contours always work best with synthetic brushes. I find my Real Techniques brushes to work well for contouring.

Pros

Build-able coverage
Easily blendable
Vegan
SPF protection

Cons

Small amount of product

Price

Overall Rating 4.6/5

I realized I have a love/hate relationship with this product, while I do think its great for covering up imperfections and vitiligo (I have around my eyes)  I am very dissapointed in the small amount of product for the price, for $2 EXTRA bucks you can buy the custom drops which will last you much longer however I have my quandaries about that product as well keep up to date with my website for that review. My suggestion is if you do plan to use it, try and only concentrate on covering areas like under the eye, blemishes or to highlight to give this product good longivity  but as far as using it daily for a full face it probably wont last more than half the month! So I’m more reserved about the price/quantity of the product rather than the actual performance of it which is why I gave it a decent rating.

A primer used before makeup application for acne prone/oily skin.

I looovee this primer! Before making the much needed switch I used the NYX Shine Killer Primer which was just horrible, it didn’t do any justice for my oily skin, this primer however doesn’t show up as oily as the other one did, I love this product!!

Pros

Easily blend-able
Builable
Affordable
Long-wearing

Cons

None

Overall Rating 5/5

Okay so here is alittle back story about my product experience in the past with Milani, back in highschool I mostly used drug store cosmetics and Milani was my first brand of instense eye shadows, I remember buying a matte bright blue and the pigment was freaking amazing! It was my staple eyeshadow and afforadble for a teen my age at the time. I love that this brand is cruelty free and also uptains good quality products.

These rose blushes were apart of a limited addition line however due to its popular demand Milani decided to make them permanently a part of their blush line (smart move Milani!) I’m in love with everything from the rose detail to the color choices and intensity, you can apply lighty for a natural look or glow or a more opaque coverage. The Tea Rose is my absolute favorite but I find all 3 colors to be flattering for any skin-tone.

Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask Review

image

What Is It

Charcoal & Black Sugar Polishing Mask by Freeman Beauty

Product Claims

“Pollution…debris…it’s a wonder skin can breathe! This unique mask and scrub works double time to detox skin. First, naturally purifying Activated Charcoal helps absorb oil and impurities without over-drying. Then, Black Sugar helps exfoliate away dulling skin cells for softness and clarity. Perfect for all skin types.”

Pros

-Softens skin texture
-Removes rough skin
-Skin completion looks even
-Sugar grains are good size for exfoliating

Cons

-Not recommended for daily use

Overall Rating 4/5

This is a great exfoliating mask, however I wouldn’t recommend it for daily use. I have oily, sensitive skin and find that while the sugar grains are a good size for exfoliating it is quite easy to accidentaly scrub too hard which can result in redness or broken skin which isn’t good! On that note, if you scrub gently and use this about once every two weeks or less, I think it should do just well as a great exfoliate to remove dry dead skin cells.

***It has come to my attention that Freeman Beauty is NOT cruelty free nor vegan, I apologize for any misinformation***

Pacifica Stellar Glaze Mascara Review

imageimageI couldn’t wait to get my hands on this product since I’ve seen a handful of cruelty free/vegan bloggers rave about it, but dare I say don’t believe the hype?
imageimage

What Is It

A Mascara that lengthens, strengthens and adds volume

Product Claims

“You will fall in love with our long lasting, nourishing, natural mineral mascara. Our amazing formula is infused with coconut oil and vitamin B to hydrate each lash as it lengthens, strengthens and adds volume.“

Pros

-Separates lashes perfectly
-No clumps
-Lengthens
-Natural looking
-Vegan and Cruelty Free

Cons

-The mascara was dry(Most of the product is on the tip of the brush)
-Mascara wand might not work for short lashes
-Not waterproof

Overall rating  1/5

The packaging is beautiful and while I think it’s a decent mascara for a natural look it doesn’t have a volumizing effect like other mascaras. If you have watery eyes or the forecast calls for a rainy day this product will run.

Jolen Creme Bleach Review

imageimage

What Is It

Facial Cream Bleach to lighten facial hair and eyebrows

Product Claims

“Go confidently with Jolen Creme Bleach Original Formula! It’s the simplest and safest way to lighten unwanted hair so that it blends beautifully with your natural skin tone, making it virtually invisible! And it’s perfect to lighten your eyebrows to match your hair color!”

Pros

-Lightens hair
-Fast activating

Cons

-Doesn’t bleach coarse facial hair
-Strong scent
-Messy

Overall Rating 2/5

The mixing tools provided make such a mess, it’s not practical for mixing the product without it spilling everywhere.
I used to use Sally Henson’s facial cream bleach which worked like a charm except it wasn’t cruelty free so I decided to try this product instead, it does lighten hair around my sideburns and chin however it doesn’t lighten coarse hairs. For coarse hairs you’re probably better off removing them with tweezers, waxing or any hair removing method you prefer.

** Jolen now has a new packaging and different formulas: Orginial and Sensitive w/ aloe vera they also now provide a small mixing bowl for easier mixing.
Once I get my hands on the updated product I will post a follow up review.
