Youth To The People Minis kit

I recently purchased The Youth Minis Kit since I wanted to try other products in the Youth To The People product line and they don’t disappoint!

To read my previous YTTP post click here.

I am familiar with the Super Food Cleanser, and Adaptogen Moisture Cream (my two personal faves)

The Maqui+Acai Facial Oil absorbs into my skin effortlessly which is one main component when it comes to picking a facial oil.

Superfood Air-Whip moisturizer is a light weight moisturizer and hydrates my skin pretty well before makeup application.

The Super Berry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask works as an overnight treatment with more hydration giving that “morning glow” appearance the next morning. They all have a distinctive “YTTP” fragrance it’s rather clean and pleasant without being too strong or irritating.

The minis kit is great for young adults, or anyone interested in trying the YTTP product line without splurging on full size since it can be a bit pricey. Also use sparingly as alittle goes a long way. The minis are also travel friendly and all of the products work effortlessly in conjunction with one another so you can custom create your own skincare routine like a mock-tail for your skin!

The Apoterra Herbal Detoxifying Steam with Flowers + Cleansing Herbs  has become an essential product for my relaxing “home spa” once a week and any time I feel in need of a little pick me up. I received the product in the mail 2 days before an event that had me feeling uneasy and stressed (perfect timing) so I decided it would be a perfect opportunity to give the herbal steam a try.

As I am typing this review I find it a bit difficult to put into words my overall experience with this product as it is one of those you have to try it for yourself to understand the pleasant outcome of using this herbal steam bath, In my best attempt to describe the Herbal Detoxifying Steam with Flowers + Cleansing Herbs it is like a sauna for your face with organic herbs that help relax your mind, opening clogged pores and also great during the winter season when you need help with decongestion. Though it was quite easy to rate this product a 5 out of 5 My two main reasons were quite simple: it is effective and has a multi- purpose use, it can be used as a facial steam, used in a relaxing bath soak and even mixed with a clay mask.

As I briefly mentioned I had an event coming up that made me stressed and anxious and decided to try the herbal steam bath. This was my first time using the product and I truly felt relaxed as a weight was lifted off my shoulders, my skin felt soft and had a healthy glow and after using the product I was able to feel more at ease and concentrate which I found to be difficult prior to use.

Last week I had a migraine which had me in bed and wouldn’t subside, Rather than taking a generic aspirin I wanted to take a natural approach and decided to use the herbal steam and see if it worked, and it surly did help I was able to continue my day by running errands that I was putting off due to the strong migraine that made me feel like I couldn’t function. Now I’m not saying this Herbal detoxifying steam has “magical powers” because the proof is in the ingredients!

Heres a brief breakdown of some of the ingredients along with its benefits:

Matricaria chamomilla (chamomile) flowers*-Reduces the redness in the skin, great for sensitive skin,Reduces the appearance of broken capillaries, helps to calm inflamed conditions such as acne, rashes, and burns, has Anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and healing properties

Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) buds*-Helps sooth anxiety and stress, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, helps with insomnia and restlessness

Calendula officinalis (calendula) flowers*- antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which can help relieve irritated skin and acne

Azadirachta indica (neem) leaf*-Helps with fevers, psoriasis, acne, wrinkles, skin pigmentation, black heads and dry skin.

Plantago major (plantain) leaf*-Natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, great for healing wounds, rashes and for itching or pain associated with skin problems.

Apoterra Herbal Detoxifying Steam with Flowers + Cleansing Herbs provide numerous health benefits as well as great aroma therapy. This product along with the Tulsi Luminous Scrub with Lavender + Pink Sea Salt [my next blog review] has me feeling good, mind body and soul. The Apoterra brand was truly created with the concern and overall wellness of the consumer and I appreciate and support a brand that can deliver products that made me feel rejuvenated from the inside out.

I highly recommend the product and over all product line. I also want to mention with the holidays approaching these will make great gift ideas for those who enjoy relaxation, effective skin care and all natural products. The product line has a great range for all skin types + concerns.

I use bronzer all year round, and this is one brand worth checking out. From the packaging to the esthetically beautiful marbled bronzer this product just screams lux! The Ambient Light Bronzer offers the versatility to contour and bronze and easily play up how much or subtle you want it to be. It offers a healthy glow meaning you won’t look over done. The Hourglass brand also went a step forward beyond the luxury look to also remove common toxic ingredients,So you wont see the use of Talc which is often a concern for consumers as talc can be contaminated and toxic to our health.  I am however little taken back by the price of $50 ( I normally would never buy a $50 bronzer) but Sephora and the Hourglass website offers travel-size with a price point of $25, which I was at first glance disappointed for the amount of product and I thought “is quality better than quantity?” and in this case, I would say so. Overall I am pleased with the product, and Hourglass’s luxury sleek designs are one you want to showcase on your makeup vanity.

Lush: Newbie Addition

I discoverd lush when I moved back to the city three years ago (I was living under a rock!) my first ever lush purchases were Twilight,Space Girl Bath Bombs (discontinued), Cotton Candy Lip Scrub and Mask of Magnaminty (one of my favorites). As a lush newbie I would run a bath and submerg one whole bath bomb each use, I mean after all isn’t that how it works? Subconsciously I always felt like I wasted a whole bath bomb worth to fill my apartments tiny bathtub. It wasn’t until my fiancé (he’s more financially conscious then I am) mentioned “you use those bath bombs so frequently, why don’t you break them into pieces and use them little at a time?” To which I thought “ugh typical man doesn’t know the true indulgence of a relaxing bath” But I decided to hear him out, he is a reasonable man, majority of the time. 😆  In this case I was stoked to run and tell him he was actually right, breaking apart the lush bath bombs not only lasted longer but it turns out just a few tiny pieces was all I needed to fill the tiny bath tub.

Upon discovery of a lush bath bomb “hack” I went to Instagram and looked up every lush hashtag possible #lushaddicts#lush#lushbathbombs and within the thousand hashtags related to lush there was a hashtag titled “lushcocktail” and beyond my creativity I saw tons of images of lush fanatics making there own concoction of lush bath bombs, shower gels, lush bubble bars and everything you can think of! All of which were beautiful and colorful. As a lush newbie I wasn’t aware of the creative freedom to personalize your bath experience by pairing other lush products with one another. As a lush newbie I also learned that Self-Preservative face masks don’t need to be refrigerated, Oops!

Overall Rating 5/5

Before I purchased the Ceramic + Ion Turbo Vent Brush and Ceramic + Ion Thermal Hairbrush I previously owned one with boar bristles (before shopping cruelty free) and it lasted me a good 4+ years so I was pretty confident when it came time to replace it. I have thin hair so I didn’t want nylon brushes that were too rough, these are effective without scratching my scalp. My hair looks shiny and also less static after a blow out I also use the retractable pick at the end for cleaning out the bristles of my hair brush.

This foam works great on my fine thin hair, it really gives me volume without weighing my hair down nor making it greasy throughout the day. The amount of volume is noticeable compared to days I don’t use this product. I also like the fact that the AG Hair Care brand is cruelty free.

AG Hair Dry Wax

What Is It?

A mattifying dry wax for locking in style and taming frizz for hair by AG Hair Care

Product Claims

“The secret to no fuss hair. Dry Wax works magic on every hair type, instantly taming frizz and locking in style while adding volume and a matte, textured finish. Dry Wax is enhanced with AG’s Sea Complex, an infusion of three naturally texturizing seaweed extracts plus anti-aging seaberry oil, to add moveable definition.”

Pros

Tamed fly-aways

Helpful for piecey+tousled look

Good for locking frizz into place

Cons

Greasy

Overall Rating: 2.9/5

The dry wax keeps my strays down I did notice it makes my hair greasy so I try to use as little as possible, I usually spray it into my hand first and work it into my hair. Using this product might take me some trial and error before getting it to work effectively, applying it straight on to the hair just releases too much pressure and product. While I personally wasn’t much of a fan of this specific product I wouldn’t be discouraged from using other products from there line as I do love their volumizing foam and have used and reviwed the AG Colour Savour Shampoo+Condition

Wet N Wild Liquid Catsuit First Impressions Review

Glides on glossy and transforms into high – pigmented matte finish

Lightweight formula made with serious staying power

Intense pigmentation without drying the lips”

Pros

Shade range

Easily buildable

Dries quickly

Cons

Sticky texture once dried

Fades unevenly

Overall Rating 2.5/5

I really love the shade, and how effortlessly buildable it was. It does stay put once its dry but I personally think this formula is very drying and sticky my lips would literally stick together so chances are if you’re going to be smooching your significant other expect them to find it a rather unpleasant makeout session. It took a while to fade but when it did it faded unevenly  leaving blotches of excess pigment on some areas which needed a obvious retouch. The shade and application process was a breeze but it just doesn’t deliver when it comes to performance.

My Three Favorite Products

The past two months I have been reaching for these three products time and time again:
Tarte Tarteist Mascara-
I love it, it doesn’t flake or give me raccoon eyes at the end of the day and it adds a good amount of volume to my lashes making them look fuller.

Hourglass Luminous Bronze Light-
A highlight and bronzer in one which gives my skin that supple glow while still giving that bronzed definition to my cheeks.

Milani Prime Shield-
It’s winter time and my face has been flakey so a primer is a must for me and this one has been doing well for me with no breakouts.

Pros

Long-Lasting

Medium-Full coverage

Easy application

Doesn’t smudge

Works well on my sensitive skin

Cons

Creases around deep wrinkles

Overall Rating 4.2/5

I tried holding off on writing a final review of the Kat Von D Lock-It Concealer because while I wanted to like this product I did have a few quarrels, maybe I purchased the wrong color but here is my first impression review. I used L15 which is slightly lighter than I’d hope although it seems to be the closest match to my skintone. Because I had chosen the “L15” I noticed my dark circles weren’t fully concealed I still think it’s full coverage in the sense that it buildable but I try not to apply to many coats especially under my eyes when I am going to be outdoors, had I slapped on a few extra layers and even baked with a powder it might’ve concealed to perfection. I also think the reason the concealer didn’t do much for my dark circles is possibly error on my part from mismatching (perhaps I could’ve went with a darker shade)  I noticed fairly quickly the concealer started to crease in my under eye wrinkles making them more visible or prominent. The product wear is pretty long lasting which I do like, it’s very easy to blend with my finger, makeup brush or beauty blender and it doesn’t smudge but I wonder if I had chosen a different shade if I would’ve had better coverage. I don’t think this is the worst concealer I do like it I just have to try different layering methods, maybe use a powder to set under the eyes. I used it to highlight my face and conceal a few blemishes which really did a great job.

UPDATE:

So I exchanged the “L15” to “M17” and I still could not get it to cover my dark circles and it still creased in my fine lines. I think it works great for concealing blemishes, and even on the lid as a smooth base for the eyelids but for someone with dark circles and under eye vitiligo it did not deliver for me, I have used it as a spot treatment for pimples and blemishes and found that it worked well for that, but as a concealer the search continues…

Rainy Day Detox

Well it’s raining here in New York as much as I wanted to start my day with a morning run and stop at my local coffee shop I opted for indoor activities such as my morning yoga routine followed by some cardio and then showered and pampered myself all in the comfort of my own home [apartment]

I started with the Apottera Herbal Detoxifying Facial Steam which you can read my full review here

Relaxing it was indeed! I love using the herbal steam facial when I am in need of a “pick me up”, congested or bad breakouts. The Herbal steam bath was followed by the Aztec Secret Healing Bentonite Clay which also helps rid the body of toxins, impurities, heavy metals and chemicals. [I’ll have a full blog review up next week]

Now I’m going to drink my Pukka Detox Tea and watch some Netflix😃

What is your favorite rainy day activity or favorite detox?

The Derma E Microdermabrasion scrub is a must have! If you’re looking for a salon quality exfoliant then look no further. I use this once a week to kick-start my skincare routine because it removes all the dead skin cells that build up and rough patches on my face from healed acne so it resurfaces my skin for a smoother softer texture. I have also used this on stubborn rough patches on my skin like my elbows and it does wonders! personally speaking as someone with sensitive skin I wouldn’t recommend using it everyday but I find using it once a week does the trick. I cannot really comment on the product alone about its claims of diminishing fine-lines as I use other products but perhaps the microdermabrasion scrub coincides with a anti-wrinkle moisturizer. As someone who is in her late 20’s early 30’s I do believe this product is a must-have for people who are looking for a good exfoliant, or if you tend to go to the spa for a microdermabrasion treatment I say you can skip it and do it at home for less than what you would pay based on service. Derma E makes a big range of skincare products and I have used 3 products from the brand all which I am very satisfied with when it comes to down the products performance.
